The Naked Jogger
From The Doodle Collection
It was a spooky day
Much silence
And rain
The rain stopped
I jogged
In the dark of the evening
Through the streets
Into the park
There were lights
No other people
I ran happily on my own
Suddenly Pop up girl was there
Jogging beside me
Naked
She asked me
You’ve never seen me naked before
have you?
I haven’t I told her
Am I pleasing to you?
She asked me
I smiled and told her yes
We jogged around the park in silence
Then she said to me
You should consider proposing to me
I didn’t know what to say
Then, as usual
She was gone.

Fellow Passengers
From The Doodle Collection
I don’t know why I did it
But I did
Shouldn’t have
I wrote my email address
On a note
Gave it to him as we left the train
His first email said
You are beautiful
Seeing you on the train
Makes my day
I replied
Fellow Passenger
I’m happy my appearance
Brightens your day
Oblige me with less romantic sounding
emails

G2
From the Doodle Collection
Jay was sentenced to death for his
crimes. For some reason they put him into my cell. Maybe it was because they
thought he wouldn’t be executed for a long time.
We never discussed our crimes, but I
had followed the news reports about Jay and his crimes. There was never any
doubt he was guilty. He confessed to all the rape murders except some he denied
any knowledge of. He claimed they must have been the work of a copy cat.
After Jay was incarcerated there were
more rape murders, confirming his theory of a copycat. He was interviewed by
the police but he claimed to have no knowledge about who was responsible. They
interviewed me too, but I knew nothing of Jay’s crimes.
A week before his scheduled execution
Jay was moved to a private cell. On the morning of the day he was to be
executed, Jay couldn’t be found. He disappeared.
There were sirens and alarms and
guards running around searching and all of us inmates were locked down. They
never found him, Jay. A guard was missing too.
After Jay and the guard disappeared there
were no more local rape murders.
Across the country, 2 states and 800
kilometers away, there were a series of Jay style rape murders. After a few
months, they stopped. Police believe Jay moved overseas.

Walk in the Park
From the Doodle Collection
Early
morning
Walk
in the park
Around
the lake
Sunglow
Thin
cloud
Bird
song
Distant
urban hum
From
nowhere
Pop
up girl pops up
Walking
beside me
Her
arm in mine
Hello
says she
Hi
says me
Will
you tell me a story?
I
told her about a beautiful, rich girl
Lived
under a bridge
With
her boyfriend
And
other homeless people
Before
I could finish my story
She
vanished
Same
as last time
When
I read my book to her
On
the train
